Abstract

Objective: to evaluate the effects of respiratory physiotherapy on the quality of life of patients diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Method: For this study, a quantitative and descriptive approach was adopted, with the objective of evaluating the impact of respiratory physiotherapy on the quality of life of patients diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). To guide the review, the following guiding question was formulated: What are the effects of respiratory physiotherapy in patients with COPD, according to the scientific literature? Results: The findings of this study show that physiotherapy improves functional capacity, reduces dyspnea, and increases tolerance to effort, bringing a better quality of life to the patient. Techniques such as lung re-expansion exercises, drainage of secretions, and strengthening of respiratory muscles improve pulmonary ventilation. Conclusion: The results of this study prove that the combination of respiratory strengthening techniques, postural drainage and physical training contribute significantly to the reduction of respiratory symptoms, favoring the autonomy of patients and increasing resistance to the exercises proposed in physiotherapeutic interventions.
